First Solar Energy Phone Samsung Guru E1107

As the world's very first solar-powered mobile phone, Samsung E 1107 is already launched in India as a budget phone.

This budget phone is currently selling at MSRP of 2799 Indian rupees or US$59. E1107 offers basic functions like MP3 and Radio with a relatively small screen of 1.5" 128x128 pixels.

Although this phone claims to be solar-powered, it, sadly, cannot be regarded as the primary electrcity supply - according to various sites, exposure in direct sunlight for one hour can only support up to 10 minutes of talk time.

Looks like it will take another 10 years to have major breakthrough in solar energy utilization.

E1107 will be available in Europe and Asia by the end of June 2009.

Could hack it to charging quicker! I tried to charge with solar panel. It never charged up. Fake solar panel. This size of solar cell could charge it's kind of battery fully. i were charging 200mA Li-ion Battery by solar cell 0.2Watt. I used it outside yard light. It is perfect working for 2 years. Winter -40C, summer +38C degrees. Battery was never explode or blow. But samsung E1107 can not charge!
